Small art watercolour in hand carved and painted frame signed H. Lordly on the lower right.
The delicate painting is signed Helen W. Lordly, Montreal West, P. Q. and titled "The Old Bonsecours Church" Montreal, Quebec at the back. The small chapel was founded in 1655 but its present aspect dates from the 19th century. It is a great tourist focal point of the Old Montreal.
Helen Lordly (b. 9-27-1900) was the daughter of Canadian engineer and Colonel Henry Lordly a friend of Willard Mitchell (1881 - 1955), Canada’s most famous miniature artist, whose influence can be seen in Helen Lordly water colour art. It accounts for the similarity to Mitchell’s miniature water colours also presented in hand carved and painted frames.
